A note from the founder

We write about games like they matter

I started Golden Battle Legacy from a rainy Gastown apartment in 2016, tired of reviews that scored a game before finishing it. Every piece here is played to credits — sometimes twice.

Today our small crew publishes three deep features a week, from frame-data teardowns to interviews with the indie studios shipping out of British Columbia. No affiliate churn, no clickbait ladders — just the writing we wished existed.

Good to know

Frequently asked

How often do you publish?+

We ship three deep features every week — typically a strategy guide on Monday, an indie feature midweek and a hardware or retro piece on Friday. Longer essays land on the first Saturday of the month. Everything is free to read.

Can I pitch a story or review?+

Absolutely — we pay freelance contributors and love hearing from writers across British Columbia and beyond. Send a two-line pitch through the contact form below with a link to any past work. We reply to every pitch within five business days.

How do you keep reviews unbiased?+

We buy most of what we cover, and any review copy or loaner hardware is disclosed at the top of the article. We run no affiliate score bumps and never let a studio see coverage before it publishes. Games are always played to credits before we score them.

Is there a newsletter or membership?+

Yes — a free Friday digest rounds up the week's posts plus one hidden-gem recommendation. An optional CAD $6/month membership removes the handful of house ads and unlocks our full guide archive. Cancel anytime, no lock-in.

Do you cover events in person?+

We attend LANs and tournaments across Metro Vancouver and post recaps within 48 hours. Our desk hours are Monday to Friday, 10am–6pm PT, and we're happy to arrange press access — just reach out ahead of your event through the contact form.
